How to Achieve this Look:

Primed my eyelids with the e.l.f. Cosmetics Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer.

Used Kat Von D’s Saint and Sinner Eyeshadow Palette for the eyes: ‘Martyr’ in the Crease, ‘Rosary’ + ‘Exorcism’ on my lids, ‘Baptism’ + ‘Heaven’ on the inner corners of my eyes.

For mascara: Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

Contacts: Blackout

Apply a makeup primer, I used the NYX Cosmetics Studio-Perfect Photo Loving Primer.

Apply a foundation, I used the Too Faced Born this Way Foundation (I love it).

Apply a concealer, I used the NYX Studio Photogenic Concealer

Set your foundation and concealer! I used the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder.

To contour, I used the darkest shade in the NYX Studio Photogenic Concealer and blended it with a sculpting brush by Tarte.

Use a highlight (my favourite step), I used Tarte’s Pro Glow Highlight and Contour Palette, used ‘Strobe’ to highlight my cupid’s bow, tip of my nose and cheeks

For blush: Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12 hour Blush in True Love.

For the paint splatter on the one side of the face: I used a Purple Body Paint and a thin brush, I dipped the brush with the paint and splattered it on the one side of my face along with my neck.

You can use any type of rhinestones or pearls on your face and neck! I just purchased mine at the Dollar Store!

NYX Slide on Lip Liner in ‘Baby Pink’

For the Lipstick:NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie in ‘Baby Pink Nude’

Add a glossy effect using the Milani Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss in ‘01Bare Secret’

Once you’ve finished applying all of the products above, you can set your makeup with a setting spray! I use the Urban Decay All Nighter long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray.

Hi beauties! Since I’m a sucker for lip products, I will be reviewing the ever so popular Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Glosses. I received a sample size to try a few months ago and I finally had a chance to give you an honest review.

These lip glosses can be found on the Sephora website, Ulta and of course the Anastasia Beverly Hills website. There are various shades to choose from and they retail at a fair price of $16 USD.

I love Anastasia Beverly Hills’ products because they are Vegan friendly as well as cruelty free!

The Anastasia Beverly Hills glosses are extremely pigmented and creamy. They are not sticky but they are thick in texture and they feel very moisturizing on the lips which I like. They have a vanilla cream scent to them that fades after you apply the gloss on your lips. The packaging is simple and I love the applicator as it is spongey and picks up enough lip gloss each time you pull it out of the tube.

As you can see the shade “Potion” in my picture below, is VERY pigmented and you can also see that it has a shiny finish which is incredibly beautiful. You can wear these glosses alone, or you can apply it as a top gloss over your lipstick for a bold look. If you’re like me, you can mix and match the gloss with some of your lipsticks to create your own unique colour/shade.

Sephora Illuminate Palette Review and Swatches

May 29, 2017

Hey everyone! With the summer being just around the corner I decided to purchase the new Sephora Illuminate Palette to get glowing skin. I read reviews on the Sephora website and people are going crazy over it with a 4.5/5 stars! I will be doing a first impression and swatch post for this palette because I love it so much.

This palette is great for all skin tones and contains “a mix of both warm and cool shades that work for all skintones and can be mixed to create a customizable glow.” In my opinion, this is quite comparable to the Anastasia Ultimate Glow Kit with it’s range of shades from true white to deep bronze. I do mix some shades together to create different looks with it, I do have naturally olive toned skin so most of the shades work well for me. I have tested the longevity of the shades and surprisingly, when applied with a setting spray they last throughout the day!

These shades have numbers:

#1 is a light, cool toned pink. This shade is similar to the Lorac highlighter in Moonlight. However, this is more pigmented and has a multidimensional shimmer, which makes it bolder than the Lorac.

#2 is a medium champagne shade that isn’t too warm. Similar to Champagne Pop by BECCA!

#3 is a pearly white, this is similar to BECCA Pearl

#4 is a pale gold that is similar to BECCA Moonnstone in my opinion.

#5 is a beautiful deep bronze shade.

#6 A deep pink shade that I usually mix with #3

Shades from left to right: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and #6.

Processed with VSCO with m5 preset

My impression of this palette is that I will be using these shades all summer long to illuminate my face, shoulders and wherever I need a pretty glow. This palette is not powdery and the shades have a medium buildable pigment. The price is incredible for what you get in this palette and I can already tell that it will last me for a long time. I love this palette because there are three BECCA dupes all in one! If you’re curious and want to try it, just go to Sephora and test it out on your skin. Keep in mind, the shades look amazing on your skin if you use a setting spray first! Not only is this palette affordable it is also quite versatile which can be used to achieve various makeup looks.

What are some of your favourite highlighters?

10 Must Have Items from Too Faced Cosmetics

January 20, 2017

Too Faced Cosmetics is one of my favourite lines of makeup available at Sephora. Their products smell amazing and best of all, they are ALL cruelty free! Their products are among my daily staples (the chocolate soleil bronzer and the neutral eye collections). If you haven’t tried them out, now is the time to start!

1. Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer: This eyeshadow primer is way up there for me because it keeps any eyeshadow that I apply in place! I would recommend using this primer with loose shadows because it is thicker and holds your look together without any smudging. This shadow primer helps prevent any creasing or fading.

2. Chocolate Soleil Bronzer:  It smells like chocolate and it is a matte bronzer that is perfect for any time of the year. A bronzer that lasts all day and can be used to shape and contour your face as well.

3. Primed and Poreless Face Primer: I tried a sample of this product because I needed to create a smooth foundation finish. My foundation applied beautifully over it and it lasted all night! If you want to hide your pores then this is a great primer to use.

4. Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara: Thicker, fuller and sexier lashes is what you’ll get after using this mascara. I prefer the waterproof mascara because I have sensitive eyes and regular mascara irritates my eyes throughout the day.

5. Lip Injection Power Plumping Lip Gloss:  I tried this lip plumper and I was impressed with how plump my lips became after one application. I don’t use this everyday but only when I am trying to achieve a glam look for the evening. The formula is not sticky and keeps your lips looking glossy and plump.

6. Born this Way Concealer:  I’m in love with this concealer’s ability to hide any dark circles I may have been suffering from. A little bit goes a long way with this product and it lasts all day. I love using this product without any foundation since it does the job of covering up any blemish on my face.

7. Peach Eye Shadow Palette:  As soon as you open this palette you’ll be taken away with the smell of peaches. I simply love this palette and Too Faced outdid themselves with it. There is a mix of matte and shimmery shadows that blend easily. I usually don’t need a primer with these eye shadows only because they are so creamy and highly pigmented. Sometimes I get lazy, we all do!

8. Natural Eyes Neutral Eye Shadow Collection:  I frequently use this palette to create an everyday look. It’s a bit warmer and has more shimmer in it than the Peach Palette I listed above.

9. La Matte Color Drenched Matte Lipstick: Perfect for those of you who are always on the go! This is a lipstick that I like to keep in my purse just in case I need to go somewhere fancy. This lipstick is long lasting and does not dry out my lips.

10. Too Faced Born this Way Foundation: Tried a sample of this foundation at Sephora and I loved it! It is oil-free and provides full coverage for those days your skin is being problematic. I also loved the smell of this foundation since it includes ingredients such as coconut water and alpine rose. This foundation leaves your skin looking flawless and natural.

Halloween Makeup | Paint Splatter Skeleton

October 14, 2016

Halloween has been one of my favourite holidays since I was a kid. I decided to create a skeleton look but with paint splattered all over my face and neck. The whole idea of splattering my face with paint sounded messy but let me tell you, it looks so cool and it was so much fun! I received so many compliments. This is the perfect combination of spooky and enchantingly beautiful.

The products that you’ll need to re-create this look:

White, Black and Purple (this colour is up to you) face paint from Snazaroo

BH Cosmetics 88 Color Shimmer Palette (Used Pink and Purple in the crease and used a yellow shimmer on my eyelids)

Kat Von D Ink Liner to Draw Lines and to add depth

Ardell Lashes in the style “Glamour” 138 Black

Urban Decay Cosmetics 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Black to fill in my eyes

Black and Grey Eyeshadow, I used the ones in the BH Cosmetics Palette

A medium Paintbrush to splatter the paint with at the end (you can purchase this at any dollar store)

Purple Glitter or any colour you prefer

Hair Wig (you can purchase this at any costume store)

Face paintbrush (I prefer a thin brush typically used for eyeliner application)

Step by Step Guide:

1- Apply a makeup primer to your face and neck, I like using the Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer

2- Apply white face paint to your face and lips using a sponge, let it dry for 5 minutes, you can use a translucent powder to set it

3- Start drawing any shapes or designs around your eyes. Map out where your skull eye sockets will go with the eye pencil by drawing circles that go above your brows and down around your under eye area.  Fill your eyes in with a black eye pencil (I used the Urban Decay Eye Pencil). For a defined eye, add a black liner to your waterline.

4- Apply the eyeshadow colours you prefer

5 – Apply the black and grey eyeshadows to your forehead, under your cheeks to create that hollow effect

6- Draw the teeth using a Black Liner

7 – Apply the false lashes

8 – Make an upside down U-shape on the bridge of your nose with a black face paintbrush. Then, follow the bend on the outside of your nose and fill everything in.

9 – Take an eye shadow brush and apply the black paint to the inside of your lips to add some depth. Take a thin brush and draw a black line from the corner of your mouth out to elongate it on both sides. Then, draw a line through the center of the mouth to connect them.

10 – Draw the teeth by starting in the middle of your lips and working outwards

11 – Draw the bones on your neck using the black and white paint, this does not have to be perfect! Get creative!

12 – Finish the look by painting on some freestyle embellishments.

13 – Using a medium paintbrush, dip the brush in the colourful paint and splatter it close to your face and neck. Then, throw some glitter on your face to add a sweet effect

Happy Haunting!

Review: Maybelline FIT Me Foundation (Matte + Poreless)

October 11, 2016

New foundation alert!

After reading an article about Kim Kardashion’s favourite foundations, I decided that I had to try at least one of them. The Maybelline FIT Me Foundation (Matte + Poreless) is not just good, it’s amazing. I usually purchase high end foundations for my combination/sensitive skin, so I was on the fence at first but I decided it was worth a try especially since it receives great reviews on plenty of makeup sites.

Here’s why I love this foundation:

If you have oily/combination skin and prefer a medium-full coverage then this foundation is right up your alley. The best part? It doesn’t cost as much as higher end foundations. It is completely fragrance free and has not given my sensitive acne-prone skin any bad reactions. I don’t need to touch up throughout the day because it is a matte foundation. There are 12 shades to choose from and the colour matching is beyond what I expected. It really does help minimize the appearance of pores as well!

I bought the shade Natural Beige in #220. This foundation dries quickly and it dries to a velvety finish and while it does work well applied with fingers or a buffing brush, I found the most natural application was with a beautyblender sponge which can be purchased at Sephora. If you want light coverage, simply apply a dime size amount of the foundation to your face and blend it with a damp beautyblender. If you prefer heavier coverage, you can apply more product to the beautyblender and you’re set! This foundation is very easy to blend into the skin, the only downside is that it isn’t buildable.

I’ve been using this foundation for a month now and I simply love the longevity and the way it feels on my skin. I do use a setting powder by Laura Mercier (but I also got a good 8 hours of coverage before blotting when I didn’t set it with powder) and it’s affordable which makes it the perfect foundation for me.

Have you tried this foundation yet?

Inspired by Fall: Makeup and Outfit Ideas

September 30, 2016

Fall makeup and beauty trends always catch my interest. The temperature has dropped since my last post so I put my shorts away, tear* and brought out my favourite leather jacket. I guess that’s a decent trade, for now.

Below I share a makeup look I like to sport during the fall season and some outfit ideas that are perfect for fall 🙂

Let’s begin with the makeup look. To achieve this look I used the first NAKED Palette by Urban Decay on my eyes. I used a few colours: I swept Naked all over my eyelids, and Buck as my transition colour in my crease. I also used the Third Edition – 120 Colour Eyeshadow Palette by BH Cosmetics and applied a burgundy and gold colour to my eyes. I used the Ink Liner by Kat Von D to create a simple winged liner, nothing too dramatic. For my eyelashes, I used the mascara by L’oreal Paris called Voluminous Carbon Black Volume Building Mascara.

I used the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation on my face. For my cheeks I applied the blush by NARS Cosmetics called Taos. I decided to skip the bronzer that day!

For my lips I used the Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Liner in the colour 4C, (it’s waterproof too). As a simple touch, I applied a lip balm called the Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter by Burt’s Bees since my lips were extremely dry that day.

I love wearing burgundy during the fall. I paired this fit and flare dress that I received as a gift with black ankle booties I purchased at the end of last winter. I did find a few sites that carry fall dresses for you:

Forever 21

JC Penney

As for ankle boots, they are always my go to shoe during the fall! Here are some sites that I found that may interest you:

Call it Spring

Aldo Shoes

A spontaneous photo shoot in an alley way turned into some great photos for this post. I’m wearing slim fit pants that were purchased at H&M. You can find similar ones here. I love these pants for the autumn season because of the darker colour and I love how comfortable they are!

A leather jacket is a must in my closet! I love wearing them on any day (rain or shine). I purchased mine a few years ago but I spotted some cool ones for you at H&M that you just might like.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Happy Autumn everyone 🙂

Easy Glamorous Makeup

September 8, 2016

I get extremely excited whenever my friends ask me to do their makeup. This time, my friend requested a simple yet glamorous look with lady danger by MAC. You can try this look during any season, its quite the versatile look 🙂

Many of you have asked which products I used to create this look so I made a list and added a brief summary of each below!

Makeup Up For Ever HD Foundation

This foundation is amazing if you’re going to be taking selfies all night. I used a damp beauty blender and evenly applied this foundation. For a simple look, I did not apply too much foundation since my friend wanted a not so heavy kind of look.

Radiant Creamy Concealer by NARS

For the concealer, I used this one by NARS. I absolutely love NARS cosmetics since you get what you pay for. This creamy concealer goes a long way. I love that you only need a little bit, dab it with a damp beauty blender and you’ll be golden! I applied this just above the cheek bones, bridge of the nose, between the eyebrows, and on any red areas.

Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation

Since my friend was going out, she needed some extra coverage but also natural looking coverage. The best product in mind was the Cover FX pressed Mineral Foundation. I love this powder because it also sets your foundation for you and does not look overdone. I evenly applied this powder after both the foundation and concealer had a chance to sit on her skin for a few minutes. I used a blush brush to apply this product because it does not pick up too much product all at once.

Maybelline Facestudio Master Contour V-Shape Stick

Contouring is a must if you want to add some definition to your face. I love this contour stick because its all in one and it’s incredibly easy to use. I applied the darker side under the hair line, on the nose to create a slimming look, and on the cheekbones. I always make sure to blend this product very well or else there will be visible lines and that is not a flattering look.

Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade

I have an obsession with this product. It creates a natural look for your eyebrows. I used a thin angled brush to fill in any sparse areas. I also love this product because it lasts all day long even when you sweat.

Kat Von D Ink Liner

To create a flawless winged liner, I used the Ink Liner by Kat Von D. This is the ultimate liner of all liners out there. Unfortunately, this liner ran out as I was doing my friend’s makeup but I got it to finish the job by dampening the tip of the pen with a tiny amount of water and I shook that pen until my wrist started to hurt. Love this liner because it lasts and lasts! It won’t go anywhere if that’s your concern! I also love how easy it is to draw a wing using this pen. The finishing look is flawless and has a slight shine to it. I created a simple winged liner, she did not want a dramatic winged look for that occasion.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

For this look, I only used two eyeshadow colours. The first one was nooner, and I applied this in the crease of the eyes and blended with a medium eyeshadow brush. The key is to apply a small amount of product to the crease and blend, blend and blend! The other colour that I used was trick, I applied this to the lower lash line and the inner corners of her eyes. This is such a beautiful compilation of shimmery and matte eyeshadows. Love it!

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara

No need to curl your lashes, this mascara already does it for you. This mascara creates a sexy and wide eyed look that is perfect for a night out! I applied two coats of this mascara on the top and lower lashes.

Lancome Bronzer: STAR

I used this bronzer to add some lift and colour to my friend’s face. I love this bronzer because it doesn’t just sit on the face, it brings it to life. I applied this bronzer on the forehead, cheekbones to create that simple sun kissed glow.

Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder

As a highlight, I chose this one, and it is by far the best highlighter on the market. You must try this and you’ll see for yourself. I love the texture, and I love that it adds that needed glow to the skin. I applied this lights just on the apple of the cheeks.

Lady Danger by MAC Cosmetics

To finish the look off, I used this beautiful red lipstick by MAC. Since my friend has full lips, I skipped the liner and simply applied the lipstick by itself. This is a creamy but matte finish. I absolutely adore this lipstick since it can take a simple/natural makeup look to a classic/glam makeup look in just seconds!

My Favourite Summer Lipsticks by MAC

April 18, 2016

It’s safe to say that summertime is near and it’s a great idea to start switching your beauty routine. I’ve gathered four of my favourite lipsticks by MAC which are all perfect for the warm weather that is just around the corner!

This is the brightest colour from my selection of lipsticks. This is the Matte Pink Pigeon by MAC. I must say that its always best to try these lipsticks on before purchasing them. Sometimes we may like how a lipsticks looks on someone else and then find out that it just doesn’t suit our very own skin tones. This is a bright pink with a super matte finish. I love wearing this lipstick in the summer because it brings out my eyes and works very well with my olive skin tone. The colour seems to last for a few hours, through a couple of teas or coffees, and even a snack or two. Those of you who love bright and shocking colours will love this pink lipstick for sure. This lipstick is also very opaque in texture and goes on smoothly so it doesn’t have that drying look. If you have severely dry lips then exfoliating them beforehand will definitely help you achieve that smooth finish.

This is a beautiful lavender violet lipstick called Up the Amp Amplified by MAC. This is a blue-toned purple lipstick. This is definitely not an everyday lipstick and it is a bit edgy and daring, but whenever I feel like adding some purple to my lips this is the lipstick that I reach for.

This lipstick is the “Amplified” formula,  which goes on smoothly, has a very creamy feel to it and the colour is opaque. It has a shiny finish and doesn’t dry my lips. This lipstick is wearable on a wide range of skin tones from light – dark. This is a bold colour but nothing over the top. It has a lasting finish and a few touch ups are required here and there.

A coral lipstick that I fell in love with! This is Vegas Volt by MAC. This is a bright coral lipstick that has a creamy finish. I love wearing this lipstick when my skin is tanned and my hair is darker in colour. Vegas Volt is a classic colour by MAC and is one of those shades that’s easy to be drawn to. This lipstick is perfect for the summer and a little bit goes a long way with this lipstick.

This is one of my favourite lipsticks by MAC. I usually wear this all year round but I do love wearing it in the summer. This is Retro Matte Flat Out Fabulous by MAC. This lipstick will definitely brighten your face and transform your look. MAC’s Flat Out Fabulous is a stunning plum-pink lipstick and is bright and opaque. This is a long wearing lipstick so no matter what you do, it stays put!

This is not my everyday lipstick by an means, however, I like wearing this lipstick for a night out. This is an intensely pigmented purplish pink lipstick. I usually wear this lipstick if I am wearing all black because it stands out and adds a beautiful colour to your overall look.

You can purchase any of these lipsticks at any MAC store or online here.
